Wendy and Ellen

Wedded in Portola Valley, CA at the Ladera Community Church, United Church of Christ on August 2, 2008. The pastor was the Rev. Wilma Reichard, who is also the chaplain at the Children's Hospital on Stanford Campus. Ellen's Mom, Marcella Sweetin, came from St. Louis. My mentor and adopted Grandfather, the late Rev. Dan Apra was with me, and my cousin, Dulcie Andres was also standing with us. The congregation did our reception with lovely cake and many a rainbow flag adorning the outdoor and indoor reception area. We registered in WA as Domestic Partners since 9/16/09 when we moved north. We are blessed to be in the PNW with my family near and Ellen's in St. Louis and she visit them. Our sibs and family have always been very supportive and we have access to all family members with great joy.

Original wedding date: Sunday, Aug. 28. But ... Hurricane Irene knocked out our wedding: friends had to stay in Vermont to bail out their basement; if cantor had come, she wouldn't have been able to get back; we spent our pre-wedding night moving furniture that was being leaked on and putting pots under other leaks, etc. New date, this coming Sunday, September 4. It will be raining but not dangerously so!
